Wallpaper & feature walls

A little pattern.
A lot of personality.

A hallway with character. A bedroom with a softer backdrop. Let the paper set the mood — and give the surface underneath just as much attention.

From idea to wall

Bring the pattern.
Think about the room.

Share the wallpaper name or reference, which walls you have in mind and whether old paper needs removing. Pattern repeat, wall dimensions and the condition underneath all belong in the planning conversation.

The finish starts underneath.

Old coverings may need stripping before the surface can be checked. Lining, filling or other preparation should be agreed after assessing the wall. Unsound plaster and damp need the right repair first.

Before buying your rolls

Confirm the product, batch, pattern repeat and quantities with whoever will hang the paper. A repeat or awkward wall shape can change the amount required; don’t order from floor area alone.

A feature wall, or the whole room?

Think about where the pattern will stop, which edges will be visible and how neighbouring paint and woodwork will meet it. Samples viewed in the room help you decide.

Can you paper over existing wallpaper?

The existing covering and wall need checking first. Stripping may be needed for a sound surface, so make this part of the scope rather than assuming paper can go straight over the top.

What should go in my room brief?

The room, approximate wall dimensions, current wall covering, chosen paper if known and any awkward access. You can start with an idea even if the paper isn’t chosen yet.
